This publication is a result of historical research conducted between 1996 and 1997 by talented local students on behalf of Heritage Mississauga. This was an arduous task being the first attempt at assembling historical information of this nature and calibre. Heritage Mississauga identified a need to research and record this more “modern” history of the city of Mississauga, which had been largely ignored. It reminds us that our heritage is not just the story of our distant past, but also the modern and evolving city today. It is our hope that the publication of this history will inspire and encourage people to not only appreciate the unique qualities of their community, but value and record their own personal place in time.
