Heritage Mississauga is home to a small collection of artifacts and archival materials relating to Mississauga’s past and present. Come to the Grange to see the latest in our rotating exhibitions or visit our online Collection’s Gallery for an in-depth look into the many things that make our City what it is today. Acquiring more than 500 artifacts, Heritage Mississauga’s collection helps us to research, record, and celebrate Mississauga’s heritage.

Hazel's Yukata

A dark blue floor-length yukata with pink and white decorative flowers. The outfit also comes with a yellow and orange obe. This Japanese yukata was owned by former Mayor Hazel McCallion and was likely gifted to her by Japanese delegates from Kariya, Japan.

Artifact and Archival Donation

There are a number of options available to you in terms of local organizations that would be able to store, protect, preserve and display your family’s artifacts:

Museums of Mississauga

The Museums of Mississauga are located in Clarkson and comprise the Bradley House Museum, The Anchorage and Benares Historic House. They are a city-operated museum facility with a staff trained in conservation techniques that would ensure proper handling of artifacts. In addition, the have an extensive collection relating to many of Mississauga’s earliest families. For more information on their collection and preservation procedures, please contact: 905-615-4860.

Region of Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives

Located in Brampton, the Region of Peel Archives and Heritage Complex are our region’s designated archival facility. Storage conditions include proper storage, temperature and humidity controls, as well as proper handling techniques. We would have no hesitation in recommending that you speak with them regarding proper preservation techniques. To contact, please call: 905-791-4055.

Heritage Mississauga

We are a resource centre dedicated to research, education and protection of Mississauga’s heritage. We have recently moved into a new home, located in the historic Robinson-Adamson Grange in Erindale. It is important to note that we are not an archival facility. Any artifacts in our collection, while housed with care, are utilized for display, exhibit, resource or educational purposes. You are welcome to visit our location should you wish.
